About Me.
Hi, I'm Caleb. I'm a Filipino-Chinese Writer and filmmaker who graduated from Temasek Polytechnic School of Design, Digital Film, and Television. Originally from the Philippines, I moved to Singapore in 2017 to complete my education. I have a deep passion for storytelling, filmmaking, music, and writing. As a director and writer, my creativity and dedication culminated in my final thesis film, "The Pirate Club", which showcased my ability to blend compelling narratives with captivating visuals. The film managed to win in the category "Best Production Design" at the Singapore Youth Film Festival. It also screened at the "European Film Festival Singapore" amongst others. While in National Service, I had the opportunity to write and direct a Vidsee Original short film for the entertainment platform Vidsee. It was a 25-minute thriller titled "The Car". It is now currently up on the platform.

Hi Everyone! I am an extremely passionate individual in the world of storytelling. Let me tell you why. This fire was lit under me about a thousand months ago, back when I was a small yet obese mixed child going to school in the Philippines. It was pretty rough; the bullying never stopped. They did it because my Singlish accent threw them off, or because I was too fat, it was mostly because I was too fat. Despite my large size, I felt so small while the world was too big. One day, while getting beaten up by my bullies for the hundredth time, I escaped mid-attack and ran for it. I managed to make it to the library and quickly hid my face behind a comically large book. The bullies slammed the door open, but couldn't find me and left. I decided to hide there for a while. Since I was going to be there for a long time anyway, I might as well just read the damn book. This decision was the beginning of my entire life.
I fell in love. The story encapsulated me. It allowed me to ride the waves of a world that glistened with beauty and enticed me with its mystery. It was my letter to Hogwarts. The escape from my harsh reality. A few years later, I won the "Most Books Borrowed Award" three years in a row. My love for books led me to the world of film. If books were my first love, film was the one I ended up marrying. My love only grew stronger. My dreams started to solidify. One day, I wanted to create a world for other fat kids to escape to when they had nowhere else to go. A couple of years later, I had to start secondary school in Singapore.
It was during this period, my God given talents started to emerge. I was great with people. I loved being in teams, groups, and social settings. It was where I felt the most comfortable. I was an extrovert, through and through. I was also a storyteller. Thus, I started experimenting with filmmaking. I decided to try and shoot a movie with my phone camera in Secondary school. I gathered a bunch of my friends, formed my "crews" and started shooting. I filmed everything. I awakened my thirst for adventure, and we would go into the Singapore jungles and forests, sometimes places that we shouldn't go, and shoot small movies. It was addictive. I knew there were sparks here; I felt the small whisper of a calling.
My first year of Temasek Poly was quiet. Covid had muted a lot of the experiences owed to us and it made me doubt my ability. I was surround with people who were just as passionate as me if not more, some had more experience then I did, honestly, most did. However, as time passed and I spent time working on my literaly dream, I realized something that turned the tide. I was truly happy. This was truly what I was put here to do. I was a storyteller. Thus, I put everything into my work, I was chosen to direct my Final Year Project, and I decided to take a leap of faith and try extra extra hard on it. The intention was not to impress, it was to inspire. I'm here to show the world that this was only the beginning for film-makers in Singaopre, that young people are going to find their footing and change everything. This was the first step for me. The film was well received and I am grateful.
Once graduated, National Service was the next step. While trying to keep my head above water, I received an opportunity to make another film. Despite my busy schedule, I had to take it. If I just played with time the right way, I would be able to have another film under my belt, and that was always worth more than anything. "The Car" was born.
